Grapefruits

Fan

High in vitamin C, grapefruits a great for a wholesome breakfast, and just half of one is the equivalent to your 5 a day portion. Just cut it in half and drizzle with honey or dot with butter, sprinkle with some brown sugar and grill until almost bubbling for an alternative taste. Don't forget that they are perfect for juicing. You can also segment them and to do this just slice off the skin top and bottom. Cut away the skin, considered with a sharp knife, working from top to bottom, then slice into segments.

Unsung hero

Not only has curly kale got a lovely, rich earthy flavour, it also offers several nutritional benefits. It's a good vegetable source of calcium and vitamins C and K, and four heaped tablespoons of cooked curly kale provide one of your 5-A-Day. It tastes great finely chopped in excellent winter dishes, such as soups, bubble and squeak and winter slaw.

Super supper

Jacket potatoes make economical, filling and wholesome dishes. For a appetizing and fast supper, rinse, dry and prick 4 baking potatoes with a fork.
